Final design features

Following are highlights of the design features that we envision in the final product. They were developed and refined throughout the product development process and based heavily on research and user feedback.

Unique Control System

The end product would have a flexible touch screen on the back, which can be used to control the device when the user is not running. When the user is running, the finger-to-thumb contact controls kick in. The different fingers correspond to different commands which can be changed by the user. In comparison with smartwatches, the user can seamlessly change a song or pick up a phone call with simple finger clicks

Modular Design

Users expressed their concern regarding the cleanliness of the glove. Naturally, the glove would get dirty quickly due to sweat during exercise. In addition, almost all the users who tested the prototype agreed that their hand got too hot.  Therefore, we decided to split the Track1 Wearable into two parts, glove and electronics. The electronics can be detached from the glove in order to wash the glove or simply to use different gloves in different weathers.

user interface

We designed a user interface that serves the need to easily and quickly obtain necessary information. The home screen, which is the main display screen, includes the most important information a user needs during exercise: time, metrics, and music. The user can touch the time section, which is located at the top of the screen, upon starting an exercise to use it as a timer or stopwatch. The menu button allows the user to access the full applications: music, metrics, phone, map, weather, and settings. Those application are not intended to be used while running; they are for configuration, playlist selection, metrics analysis and other functions for preparing before a run or studying performance afterwards.
