Background
The problem of navigating people by a variety of tools has become object of extended research. This project’s goal is to provide a solution for indoor navigation. The distinctive element in this the employment of magnetic field distortion caused by building structures to for accurate indoor positioning. Furthermore, the final product uniquely makes use of projections on different surfaces to display guiding information, an augmented reality approach to navigation that keep the users aware of their surroundings. The engineered solution will provide a positive outcome for the society in a variety of applications.
The engineering theory is that by developing a measuring apparatus that collects magnetic readings, a reference map can be created for different buildings and complexes. Subsequently, a device with magnetic field sensors can detect magnetic fingerprints and accurately position the user in the right location by matching the readings with the reference map.
